Get yourself a Brooklands REF: TR SPC3 "Triumps TR4A SPARE PARTS
CATALOGUE,.......a Robert Bentley "THE COMPLETE OFFICIAL TRIUMPH TR4 & TR4A
1961-1968".(which contains the drivers' handbook, the workshop manual and the
compentition
preparation manual) and...........a catalogue from each of the big
three:......TRF (The Roadster Factory) www.the-roadster-factory.com MOSS
(Motors)
www.mossmotors.com and VB (Victoria British) www.victoriabritish.com
.........AND.......if you want it to look correct.......you'll probably need
Bill
Piggot's "Original TR4/TR4A/250/6"...........AND...........if you want to show
it
in Concours........"TRA Judging and Standards & Restoration Guidlines" for the
TR4 and TR4A......www.Lmtr4a@ctlnet.com ($30 including
postage.........tells you what color everything should be painted, and how many
points you get
subtracted if it isn't correct....a great book.....just got mine.......wish I
had
had it when I started!!!)
I'd start with requesting the catalogues...........then check the prices on
the other books that you wish for the most........they all seem to come on
sale from time to time.......... if you are doing a major restoration TRF has
a
good deal with (gee I can't remember exactly just now) with maybe 15% off
their prices if you buy $100 of parts a month....or something like
that........it's probably on their web site.........
I use all three!!!.......Moss usually........cause I'm on the west coast and
the parts arrive here faster.......TRF is in PA and VB is in KS, I
think.........so again it depends on price.......(they do vary a bit)......and
how
quick I need it .........
Sorry!..........I'm talking about maybe $200 worth of books here.....but you
will eventually need them all......Moss uses illustrations from the parts
manual........but their own numbers.........TRF uses their own illustrations,
but
factory part numbers.........VB uses some of their own and some part's manual
illustrations and their own numbers..........."confusin but amusin!"....as Al
Capp used to say in "L'll Abner........(sp?)
Good luck with your new found friend, and big time money shredder.......but
something that I hope you will grow to love.......... as we all have!!!
And just ask the Net when you have any questions and/or problems.......we
somehow have a bunch of great guys that are quick to
help.........amazing!......really!
I'm sure the other guys will have their suggestions.......put it in the
soup........
