- - the carb diaphrams have about 7-8 tears in them, from the outer ring to
the inner, evenly spaced. I just replaced these 18 months ago! What should I
expect a decent life for these is?

You haven't been using any carb cleaner or starter fluid have you?
I've heard the diaphrams can't take those harsh chemicals.
Also heard the diamphrams of old (as in New Old Stock) can't take the new
chemical makeup of modern gas - hopefully new diaphrams are more gas
resistant.
