The splines are keyed (one is thicker than the others). But refitting
the gaiters is enough of a pain out of the car that I would rather
unbolt the half-shafts rather than try to get the joint back together
underneath the car, on my back. And the u-joints are inexpensive
enough that you should probably replace them unless they are very new.
