Almost done with the teardown of my TR3A engine and I have some questions
for the list:
1. I have a set of "Glacier" cam bearings. Are there better bearings on the
market? What brand do TRF and MOSS sell?
2. What are the best main and rod bearings available today? My crank specs 10
thousandths under.
3. I am thinking of leaving the fan extension off. I will be using an electric
fan. I am not planning on installing a harmonic balancer and I drive easy. I
have seen others do this. What holds the crank hub in then? Do you custom
fabricate a washer? Have any listers cracked a crank doing this in non-
competition?
4. Any easy tricks to getting the cam bearings out and a new set in? Do I need
to fabricate a tool or should I have the machine shop do it when doing the
other machining?
5. I plan to paint the block with POR 15. Can you paint over POR 15 with a
lighter color afterwards?
