They weren't originally the same, the hole spacings were different.
However, some aftermarket hinges are drilled to accept studs in either
location, and the holes in your trunk and/or hood may have been filed out to
accept the wrong hinges.

Please note that the hinges _are_ definitely different side to side, putting
a hinge on the wrong side will cause it to shortly break. If you look
closely, you'll find that the mounting surface is not parallel to the pivot
pin.
I don't have any to spare (think all my good ones are already on the car,
they do break from time to time if you use them as much as I do). But, you
need to ask again and specify whether a LH or RH hinge is needed.
