Hi List!
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Cosmo K. wrote a thread on 4/8/2K3 that was:
I have removed my engine & tranny out of my car last Sept. 2K2 &
last used that engine 8/2K2. I started it up to warm up & [free the
clutch from the Flywheel that had been attached for about 14 months]
drove it 1 mile [quick Test Ride (TR) [;-)] ]. Not realizing that that (TR)
would be the last time petrol would be sitting in my SU Float Bowls. Now it is
April 2K3 with the 'Same Petrol' sitting in the Bowls.
QUESTIONS:
1- Do you think 'gum build-up' HAS formed on the SU's?
2- What is the simplest way to remove All petrol for the SU's? I
really DON'T have the funds or the time [now] to rebuild them or
disassemble them. I'm concerned about petrol 'gum build-up'. I
was thinking of just removing the bowl's screws , emptying, & installing
bowel back in place. BTW- I may not get to touch these carbs for another
20 yr. [IF I make it that long. [:-\] ].

I'm sorry to have mislead you members to believe that this is my new
rebuilt engine that I installed in the car last November. This is the engine
unit that has been removed out of the car & is now the spare. I'm looking for
the simplest way to PREVENT 'Gum Build Up' for LONG Term Storage.
Review of members input [they may have responded to the TR List, but
I'm on the TR Digest List; so I don't know what's been said to you members
until tomorrow when I receive the digest]:
Every person who responded to me stated that 'Gum Build Up' was NOT likely to
have happened, yet.
QUESTION that I should have asked:
What is the simplest what to PREVENT 'Gum Build Up' in the SU Bowls for LONG
Term Storage when the engine unit is out of the car? One shot preventive
maintenance job. TIA,
-Cosmo Kramer
