paint, paint, paint

I know this has come up a number of times in the best but...... what's the
best way to get a paint match for touch-up paint? I think I recall listers
saying that auto paint places use a 'doo-hickey gizmo thingie' against your
existing paint to get a match and then can mix an exact match up.
