I use pure silicone spray lubricant.  It obviously can't repair damage
that's already done, but will keep the rubber soft and pliable.  Spraying
the door and trunk gaskets with it was recommended maintenance on my 70
Audi, and it seemed to work quite well.

Check the can tho, you want to avoid the ones that contain methylene
chloride.  It's not very common these days (it's considered hazardous so has
to be on the label if it's in the can), but there used to be some varieties
that included it.  Why, I have no idea.
