Mike, the gauges in the TR7/8 are the self-compensating type and do not use
a voltage stabilizer.  They are more along the lines of the gauges used in
the TR2/3.  As such there is no voltage stabilizer in the wedge.  There is
a device mounted to the backside of the instrument cluster that looks like
a voltage stabilizer.  I once confused this with a voltage stabilizer but
was corrected on this very list.  This device is actually a time delay unit
for the Low Fuel lamp and when it fails (as mine did) the Low Fuel lamp
will flicker on and off when the fuel level gets low.  The time delay will
make the light stay off or on depending on the predominance of the switch
condition.
