I should mention that my comments do NOT pertain to the French Foreign
Legion. Those boys have got a proud history to rival the US Marines, the
Spetznas, you name it. Damn fine soldiers!

Not to mention the fact that the frogs have had their butts kicked in
darned near every war they've been in since Napoleon Bonaparte and perhaps
earlier.

Actually, the Franco-Prussian war of 1870 was the 3rd of 3 three wars used
by Bismarck to unify modern Germany, France's defeat helped lead to the
attitude which resulted in the disastrous Versailles treaty. Germany had
been held in a relatively disunited state by the other European states lead
primarily by Russia so that a future war by France (post Napoleon) would to
have invade someone before Russia such that the next European war could take
place on German soil instead of Russian.

"YES" in "BOTH" wars "FT"

Actually, 3 wars. I believe they slapped each other around in 1870. A loose
alliance of the Germanic states in the area (under von Moltke) kicked the
crap out of the frogs under Napolean III and Marshal Bazaine and took Paris
in January of 1871.

Sound Familiar :-)
