My favorite VB quality issue was when I found the little rubber straps
used on late spits for tying down the various hoses and such. They are
made of rubber and are shaped with serrated edges like the ties that
used to come with Glad garbage bags in the '70s and '80s.

I couldn't find them anywhere, then one issue I noticed they were now
available, so I ordered one. You know what I got? Your basic plastic
zip tie. And they charged me 50 cents for it.

My second favorite was the Mountney steering wheel in Mahogany. The
wheel had a huge crack in the wood at the base of one of the spokes. I
sent it back and they sent me a replacement. Guess what? It was cracked
too. I didn't even take if out of the plastic as I could see the crack
that easily. I finally got one that wasn't cracked, but I've noticed
that they sell that wheel for more $ than anyone else I've seen that
carries it or anything comparable.
