removed old leaking wheel cylinders from 1980 tr7 (5 sp). noted that new
wheel cylinders i received did not come with new gaskets to backing plate,
reused old gaskets. first question: is that okay ? worse, noted that
wheel cylinders are held on with circular clip and located with a small pin
coming out of wheel cylinder that inserts into backing plate. of course the
locating pin on the new wheel cylinders are on opposite side of wheel
cylinder ! they don't go on opposite wheel. i was either walking or ... i
took the locating pin out of the wheel cylinders, installed wheel cylinders,
they did move a little since only the circlip is holding them and installed
the shoes, bled, test drove. the brakes work great, but ... am i an
accident waiting to happen ? do i have the wrong as in very wrong wheel
cylinders (they matched the old ones perfect in size etc except for that
locating pin) ? can i drill a hole in these wheel cylinders and install
the pin on the other side (i can do this through the exposed hole on the
backing plate from behind) or would that be bad / dangerous ? appreciate
any advice and comments ! thanks, larry, lstein6@earthlink.net
