Hello All,
Hey Fred, it appears all of the listers came out of
the woodwork on this one.
One of the assignments I had when I was studying
architecture in Los Angeles, California was to
investigate the environment of humans at various ages.
My group studied children from birth to
pre-adolescent. The most interesting report, to me at
least, came from the group that studied adolescents to
college age. They made the observation that the most
significant environment for that age group was the
AUTOMOBILE. Being able to drive at age 16 in
California the car becomes a mobile environment where
many a youth could take refuge with friends from
parents, home and school. Your own little piece of
territory if you will. Many meaningful experiences
take place in the "privacy" of that room with wheels
that stay with one for a lifetime.
I do not want to offend anyone and maybe this question
belongs on some other list but I am sure this was on
the minds of many who responded to the question as
they took that trip down memory lane (one lister
mentioned his desire to bronze the back seat of his
American Iron). At the risk of being shunned from
this list here goes:
First time in first car?
Without going into any detail other than to say I am
6'-1" tall I answer yes in my 1964 VW Beetle.
Chau (I hope not for good), Javier
