A recent thread on this list was the offer to cast a non-available part
and the suggestion by some for the idea of creating an alloy 4 cy engine
block.

>From a recent thread on rec.crafts.metalworking newsgroup, the URL
shows
pictures (and some text) on the amount / effort involved in creating
patterns in order to make aluminum alloy engine blocks for an AH3000
(LBC
content). For those of you that are not all that intimately familiar
with
what all exists with in an engine block (with respect to oil galleys and
water jackets), there are also pictures of a stock cast iron AH3000
engine
block that has been sectioned as part of the pattern design process. I
can
only imagine what the cost of a bare machined AH3000 alloy block.
All in
all a highly recommended URL. Enjoy.
