The TR4 differential pinion 'big end bearing' is more beat up than I realized 
(discovered under a magnifying glass on tip from Michael Porter) There are 
tiny chips, dents and what almost could be flat spots in several of the 
roller bearings so replacing it will be the first step to reducing 
wide-ranging 'back-lash' of crown & pinion mesh. If that doesn't improve it 
enough - one of the carrier bearing races spun in a previous life and the 
carrier bearing flange may need tending..
