Having just spent the better part of the last 2 weeks working around the
heating contractors at our new shop, I feel the need to comment on this one.
Our 90% efficient up-flow gas furnaces had to be elevated so that the blower
motors were a minimum of 18" above the floor. This placed the electronic
ignition and burners roughly 48" above the floor, which the code says is
adequate for avoiding the potential of explosions from autos in close priximity
to the furnaces. I hope they're right!
