Hi Graham,
The 70X head was an 8-port design where the standard 1147 head was 6-port,
but it was not a crossflow design. It was produced in 2 styles, one aluminium
the other was iron. In fact, I'm not certain that the 70X designation applied
to both of these. I understand that there was a third pattern of 8-port head
done by SAH. Every engine I've seen equipped with one of these heads has also
been fitted with twin Webers on equally unique manifolds. I wouldn't want to
invest heavily in recreating one of these heads as there is already a Triumph
supplier working on a replica alloy head.

Some of the Herald's mazak castings suffer badly and are not available as new
parts - headlamp rings for the 948 & 1200 are something I could sell any number
of! The Spitfire 4 Mk1 and early Mk2 also have unique door catches which are
very hard to find.
Cheers,
Bill.
