That's very interesting John. The 985 harness... at least
what is being sold as a 155985 harness... has two bullet
connectors coming out of the harness, just ahead of the last
wire that goes down to the solenoid, Looking at the color codes
on the schematic..they do match the wiring for the gear stick
O/D switch (red black O/D sub harness to ...from yel/grn wire
from gearbox mounted switch.

Looking back...I should have drawn up what the supplied
harness looked like before I chopped it up to make my own.

The bag the harness came in had a silkscreened G.B. flag at
the upper left corner and a sticker at the upper right marked 1557.
The 155985 number is simply fat magic marker, hand written
across the bag.

Any idea what the mfg or 1557 number is?

> I'm fairly certain 155985 is the bottom harness for a D type box when a
column switch is fitted, the top harness which has the relay connections is
155983, but these are not the correct part numbers when a gearstick switch
is fitted. All D type overdrives should use a relay as the initial currect
surge is around 30 amps which will tend to destroy small switch contacts.
The J type overdrive doesn't need a relay but one was fitted to the 1974
model year cars when the J type was fitted to a 3 rail box. No single rail
gearboxed car (ie when it became the Spitfire 1500) has a relay fitted.
