Hi everyone... I hope I state my question clearly. I have rebuilt 175CD
Zenith Stromberg carbs before. These are the ones with simply a plug with
an o-ring on the bottom of the float chamber. I've had to replace that
o-ring once before to solve a fuel leak; I just popped the plug out,
replaced the ring, popped the plug back in. Presto change-o!
Now my 2000 is leaking, again from the bottom of one of the carbs. (I've
noticed several posts here lately about carb leaks, I suspect it might be
because it's getting c-o-l-d up here in the north and the rubber o-rings
are shrinking!) The 2000 has twin 150CD Stroms with a jet adjusting
assembly on the bottom of the float chamber, where the plug was on the
175's. I see in the carb diagrams in the ROM for the car there is indeed
an o-ring on assembly. I think that's the culprit. Is there an easy way
to just remove that to get at the o-ring? Does it just pull out? Or must
I unscrew the 5 screws holding on the float chamber and remove the assembly
from the inside?
Thanks,
Blake Discher, Detroit
(Cold and afraid to stoke up the garage heater with fuel leaking!)
