Just to add one item to a very long e-mail trail. There is what I consider a
major disadvantage to adding tubes to a leaking tire/wheel. Normally if you run
over a nail or something similar the tire just develops a slow leak. If a tire
has a tube in it and your run over the same nail it goes flat right away. The
reason for this is in a tire with a tube, there is no seal around the valve
stem and the wheel. Having worked in a tire store for many years in my youth,
we only used tubes as a last resort.
Why is it for everything that seems like an easy fix there are always
disadvantages??
Respectfully
