Thanks, Alan. Strange as it may seem, I wasn't aware of the problem, having
only recently acquired a Triumph that uses them.

There are lots of reasons, not all of them the vendor's fault. In some
cases it's the cold, dead hand of British Leyland, who 'rationalized' parts
that were not quite the same.

That's certainly one reason.

Considering that parts availability (and price) is much better now than when
BL was still in business, 20 years ago (!), it seems to me we don't have a
lot of room to squawk. Just try restoring an Italian car from the 70s !
