Tr6 taillights

Hi all,

I have a friend that owns a '76 tr6 and when he restored the car he replaced
the taillights. His wife picked them up in England and they came with yellow
outer markers. 

At a recent car show it was pointed out that they should be red.  

What is the deal here?  Is yellow UK spec? And the red is North American
spec?
