if you want to know how the dip switch / high beam flasher is wired up (at
least on a gt6) read on. the book is not 100% correct or clear. as a side
note, some numbskull took one of the wires off this switch (the hot wire of
course) to wire up a cigarette lighter they installed, which of course
eventually shorted out. but thats another story. ok here is how it is
wired...
brown/red wire is hot from the headlight switch and goes to center post of dip
switch
when lever is down (low beam-dip) blue/red wire is connected supplying +12v to
headlights
when lever is up (high beam) blue/white wire is connected supplying +12v to
headlights
a brown wire has +12v on it always (connected to a purple wire that is on the
fuse assembly). this is the 'pull' part of the flasher part of the dip
switch. when you 'pull' that makes contact with the blue/white wire and will
turn on the high beams. this brown wire is the one that is missing from the
two wiring diagrams i have. so you want to write them in. also the diagram
does not show which contacts are connected / open for each lever position so
you can write that in now too.
why they connected a purple to brown halfway down the road is beyond me, but
thanks to randall for explaining that to me. hope that is a good reference
for the future for you.
