Sounds like the clutch master cylinder isn't returning all the way.  This 
would pressurize the system giving a higher peddle as the fluid expands from 
engine heat.

A quick check would be to drive the car then open the bleeder to relieve 
pressure then try the peddle.  

There is a small chance the clutch linkage is binding or the slave is 
sticking allowing the system to pump up.
