Thread-topic: another question on car insurance
Larry,

I went through this exercise about a year ago.

I called all the classic/antique insurance companies that I could find.
What I found out from each one is that you are basically covered for
"club" events and "pleasure" driving. When I asked each one what
"pleasure" driving was, they said it was driving from your home and back
with, if needed, VERY SHORT stops such as to refuel.

So I asked, "What if I go to Home Depot on a Saturday morning?"
Answer...not covered.
"What if I run to the cleaners?" Answer...not covered.
"Can I drive it to work?" Answer...not covered.
"Can I run weekend errands?" Answer...not covered.

With that said, there are a lot of folks on this list that use these
companies. You certainly can't beat the prices. However, when you
drill down into the T&Cs, you are at risk, at least for the type of
"pleasure" driving I do.

I'm insured through my traditional insurance company.

i just went to hagerty.com and was about to buy insurance (their rates
are fantastic). it was so good i had to call and ask. turns out their
insurance only covers your vehicle for pleasure driving only. you
cannot drive your car to work and back (which i do, a whole 0.9 miles).
your car may not be parked in a parking lot at any time. while at home
it must be parked in a locked garage. you cannot leave your car in your
own driveway. no wonder the insurance is so cheap. did those of you
who insure with hagerty know this ??? what about other co's ? else i
will have to renew my compulsory only with farmers for $550 year :(((
