Forty years ago, after seeing an outer wheel bearing solidly friction welded
to the spindle on a customer's car due to a lack of sufficient grease (thus
destroying the spindle), it's always seemed a good idea to have a bit too
much grease than not enough. I've never had a lubrication failure on a
customers car by filling the hub to the level of the I.D of the outer races,
as is often recommended. Peter
