Germany's oldimer scene mourns. During this year's event of one of our annual
oldtimer races at the N|rburg Ring a driver of a prewar MG P3 turned over with
his car. He was seriously injured and all attempts to save his live came too
late.
No other car was involved in the crash. Assumptions are that one of the
wire-wheels broke.
Coincidental, this year the german office for technical car decline (sorry, I
have no better translation) roles out a new ordinance that forbids painted or
coated wire wheels. They say the reason is that one can't judge the state of the
metal once it is painted or coated. Furthermore it is difficult to say what
happens to the metal when burning on plastic coatings with high temperature.
Just to consider.
