Just finally finishing up putting my engine bay back together after my
recent engine rebuild. I'm stalled on my carb rebuild because I ruined one
of the throttle shaft seals and lost the spare one I ordered. Should have
this done later in the week.

Put a new radiator duct in yesterday. Another unpleasant fitting job just
like the gearbox cover. A lot of pushing and tugging to get things to line
up.

While I was doing this, I decided to pull apart the bullet connectors on the
front harness and coat them with Vaseline. Big lesson here about Lucas
wiring problems. Almost all of the four connector couplings were cracked and
had at least one wire loosely connected. Fortunately, I have Ed from
Trispare nearby and he supplied me replacements from his Triumph
mini-junkyard for real cheap. Good news: now both horns now work flawlessly.

Got my wiper motor and washer installed also. The washer did not seem to be
working when I pulled things apart. The motor turned on but no action. When
installing it today, I ran it with the hose disconnected. Water came right
out. Then I hooked the hose up. Saw water dribbling down the bonnet.
Apparently the jets were turned upside down. Turned them up toward the
window and ran the washer again. After about five seconds a stream of water
came out making it about half way up the windscreen. Feeling triumphant, I
went out for a long drive. About 15 minutes into it, felt drops of water on
my leg. It's likely I have a leak.

Questions:
Should I expect a spray or just a wimpy little stream of fluid?
Is the five second wait normal?
Any tips on debugging windshield washer problems?

Thanks,
Hugh Fader
