Jack,
I really hate to say this, but this is exactly what I experienced when
the
pin/bolt broke that holds the Throw -out bearing to the shaft. If this is
the case you will have to pull the transmission.
I looked it up in my Repair Operation Manual and it says to pull the
transmission to replace the bushings.

Subject: TR6 clutch
My TR6 clutch actuation is rather unpleasant. It is not possible to let it
out without the pedal binding on its way up. This makes starting up from a
standstill rather untidy. It feels like the bushing is binding on the
shaft. I've tried the oil / WD40 treatment even though I know that's the
wrong thing to do on composition bushings on steel shafts.
Has anyone had experience fixing this without removing the whole darned
pedal assembly from the car?
