This past weekend was the 19th annual British Car Day at Chateau Ilan in
Braselton Ga. I had the opportunity to meet and see some of our fellow
listers, Al Salvador and Doug Ross., Al traveled all the way from
Pensacola Fl. to Braselton. Doug from
North Carolina. It is always neat to meet the Listers you share this
common hobby with. Talk about nice guys.
Doug Ross and his Grandson were also on had for their second time. Hows
this for luck, last year was Dougs first time attending our BCD and he
becomes the feature on My Classic car which was taping a segment for
an upcoming episode.
The show:
On average the BCD generally has anywhere from 600-700 LBCs all marques
including Land Rover, this year the count was down (about 400) due to
the threat of thunderstorms and major road construction on I 85 north.
I heard it took some of the Local club members traveling for Atlanta,
(which is only 39 miles) up to three hours to pass through the
construction traffic. Even with the threat of rain and the construction
we had on hand 87 triumphs.
Danny Panoz, owner of Panoz Motor sports had on hand three of his Panoz
Lemans race cars. Pretty cool!!!
Dannys dad Don owns the Chateau Ilan, Road Atlanta, Sebring and Mosport
race tracks.
If you get a chance next year try to attend. I worked the club booth and
did not get an opportunity to roam and take any pictures this year, but
I have some good shots from last year that will give you a good idea of
the event.
