Stephen- in a word, No. The capillary tube contains a fluid which goes into the housing, to actuate the gauge. You cut it, or otherwise remove it, you now have two useless gauges... Best bet is to go to Hemmings, and find a gauge restorer. Usually not too expensive. They can do repairs, or mods, if desired.
