It might be a problem. My local machine shop pulls the pins out (pliers 
work) and machines the whole surface. If the pressure plate is higher than 
the friction disc you'll have less spring tension and your clutch could 
slip under load. It might be OK, but I'd hate to have to take everything 
apart again...
