Tom, Listers
I would flush the system with which ever fluid you want to use. DOT 4 (the
Castrol GTLMA) or the DOT 5 Silicone fluid.
I have DOT 5 in my Concours prepared TR3 and love it, I have spilled it on
my new paint several times plus I have a small leak at the Master Cylinder,
all with NO ill effects. If I was using DOT 4 I would have NO paint on the
fire wall below the Master Cylinder.
I am not sure I believe all of the horror stories regarding "swelled seals",
etc. with DOT 5. If it was as troublesome and ill advised as it appears to
be from some of the folks on the list, I am sure that the DOT would recall
it and rescind it's approval!!! To say nothing of the lawyers field day that
would ensue!!
Speaking of lawyers, YMMV, etc., etc.

Subject: Brake Fluid
Thanks for the input,
-the fluid in the master does not seem to have a tint to it
-I compared it to dot 5 that I have, no comparison
-the fluid in the master has a distinct odor not present in the Castrol
product.
-it feels oily
How long does the wrong fluid take to swell the rubber seals?
