1) I am just now putting a kit in my brake master cylinder. I rebuilt
the brake master cylinder in 1995 or so, and included resleeving the bores
with brass. I later heard that brass is bad for the seals due to some
interaction with the copper content. Is this true? I had made an attempt to
have the bores sleeved with stainless, but the company I called would not do
a stepped bore cylinder like mine. I have driven the car only 1000 miles per
year or so on average, (perhaps part of the problem). When I disassembled
it, the brass bores are smooth as glass with no pitting. The seals look
good, perhaps a tiny amount of wear, not a smoking crater type of damage I
would prefer for a non working part. I' m using Castrol LMA. Should I expect
to rekit this often?
2) I have attempted to adjust my carburetors, and find the pistons are
not sitting on the bridge when idling, confusing me as to the "lift" test. I
have the idle set at 800 rpm. Is this normal?
3) When I put the Uni-Syn on the face of the carb, should it be
momentary, or can I hold it on for a while?
Thanks,
Dennis
