David;
The cables for opening the hood on the early cars are in series. Pull inside
the cable connects to the first lock, as it operates it pulls a cable running
across the front under the front clip I think and operates the second lock.
Inspect the mechanism under the hood where the main cable attaches, It is
probably L shaped and there should be a place to attach the secondary cable
which goes over to the other side of the car. It's been almost 40years since
I fooled with one so the details are a bit foggy, but I am sure about the
general set up. I had a 54 that I smashed up and one of the locks would
operate and the other would not, I had to reach up through the grille
opening to pull the secondary cable. If you have the major parts that's
good. Nothing is available new that I know of. You could probably rig a
cable out of a bicycle or choke cable if you need to. My solution back in 64
was to put a belt across the hood and drive it, After all it was just a beat
up 10 year old sports car.
The TR2 I have now is a later model with the Dzus fittings so I can't look
at that.
