I've had a problem with a strong exhaust smell and very poor mileage. It
was suggested I check my to see if the float was damaged. No joy. So
after doing routine ignition maintenance (wires, plugs, rotar, cap,
leads) I decided to tune my HD-8 to see if that helped (you never know).
I have a question about this. On page 18-6 of the Hayes manual under
section 8 for tuning it says, "Connect and set the mixture control wire
(except on thermo-type carburettor). Connect the mixture control
with..." Anyone know what the "mixture control wire" is and where it is
located? I see know other reference. How do you know if it is a
"thermo-type" carb? I assume that means thermostat starting?
Thanks in advance,
Joe Burlein
