Ah, Corvair adventures.

I had a 62 Monza coupe, black with turquois interior.

Remember how they would sag in the front with a full luggage compartment? I had
a
buddy who used the luggage compartment for a beer cooler -- filled that baby up
with Schlitz and ice. Kind of balanced up the car, too.

My son Tony, now a vintage racer and certified car nut like me, slept in a
little
crib in the back seat when we went on rallies.

I put a J.C.Whitney 4-carb conversion on that puppy and fabricated a quick
steering setup. It was the scourge of the local car club gymkhanas and enraged
the local Austin Healey 3000 owners until a rod bearing went. Then I discovered
that Corvair rod bearings were smaller than those in a VW bug.
