The earlier design has two coils of magnet wire with bobbins and fiddly
adjustments. The later design has only a short single strand of nichrome,
and a single, simpler adjustment. The needle pivots were also simplified.
I think it's no coincidence that the change appeared just shortly after S-T
almost went bankrupt and Leyland took over in 60/61 ...
