List,
I think my rear shocks need attention. I'm hitting the bump
stops when I blast down Straw Hollow Road. This car has the anti-
squat "mild competition" rear springs, with the original Armstrong
shocks. One shock is a bit damp, but both *seem* to be working
OK, as I put them in a bench vise and pump.
Kas Kasner, in his Competition Preparation Manual, says to
pump out all the old shock fluid and remove the valve (which I
guess is behind that brass plug on the bottom), fill 'em up with "#40
racing oil" and go.
Seems like a cheap alternative to rebuilt lever shocks or
new telescopic units.
Has anyone tried this fix? Any advice appreciated.
