Beware of the Urban Myth!
I received this same message a couple weeks ago,and was suitably
disturbed....
In my non-lbc mode, I am a BMW 2002 driver, so I noticed that BMW was listed
as a
non-donator. As I have handed over vast sums of money to BMW/NA for bits
and pieces, I thought I should get a little clarification on the matter. I
wrote a message to them at HQ, inquiring as to their contributions to the
disaster relief funds. I received a very thoughtful and cordial note back (
mine had been ever so slightly angry...) indicating they had donated $1
million, 10 X5 'Sports Activity Vehicles', and 100 police motorcycles to
NYC.
I little further research into the source of the alleged CNN letter
indicates it very likely is a fraud, and was most likely created 'somewhere'
in Detroit. In fact, several of the corporate/manufacturers websites I have
checked have detailed their contributions, which have indeed been
significant and cast serious doubt on the validity of the "CNN HEADLINE
NEWS" account.
I want to be sure that everyone here on this list knows I mean no
ill will in pointing out this folly; Those who re-posted it certainly did
not knowingly mean to mislead. I suppose the lesson to be learned is that
there are folks in the world who will use any means to further their own
agendas. Trust, but verify.
rant mode off....

ps. mandatory LBC content: I caught 6 mice so far this winter trying to
take up residence in
the TR. Considering stitching together a mouse-pelt hat, only enough for
ear muffs so far..

Whenever the time may be for you to purchase or lease a new vehicle, keep
this information in mind. You might want to give more consideration to a
car.

Apart from Hyundai and Volkswagen, the foreign car companies contributed
nothing at all to the citizens of the United States. It's OK for these
companies to take money out of this country, but it is apparently not
acceptable to
return some in a time of crisis. I believe we should not forget things like
this. Say thank you in a way that gets their attention. Pass it on."
