Speaking for myself, I sure wouldn't go too high. Kruse is literally a high
priced "used car lot", and I have to wonder why the owner felt it necessary
to use a middle-man.
"Only 600 made" ??? I think not ! But, to be fair, Kruse is only acting as
an agent (according to the fine print), so they are presumably just
parroting whatever the owner told them. I suppose they _could_ mean only
600 made with OD, wires, adjustable wheel, white/black, etc.
For that matter, the white paint looks new to me, while the black engine
compartment looks older, and the wheel wells appear to be black. Sorta
suggests the car was originally black (and Kruse didn't say anything about
the paint being correct). OTOH, the spacers under the Dzus latches appear
to be black, so perhaps the engine compartment was resprayed. The
adjustment nut on the steering wheel appears to've been replaced at some
point, as does the control head. If the seats are "all original", why is
the steering wheel hub so much more faded ? Dye job, perhaps ?
The (probably fake) UK plates bother me too, perhaps the car is not in the
US legally. This would create enormous hassles for any unsuspecting buyer
that wanted to actually drive the car. "Excellent running condition"
perhaps, but without US plates you can't even take it for a test drive. I
didn't see anything that said "clear title".
As others have said, that's the correct 'backwards' valve cover (they
actually won't fit backwards, it has to be the later TR4 cover found on late
TR3Bs).
The steering wheel cover doesn't bother me, there's steel under the hard
rubber (that always cracks), so I have little doubt the wheel is 'safe'.
But, I wouldn't want the adjustable wheel on a car I was planning to drive
much. It's minimum adjustment is closer to the driver than the standard
wheel, which is already too close for my taste (and I drive with the back of
my seat touching the jump seat).
I can't see the wiper arms clearly (can't even tell for sure that the
driver's side wiper is there), but where they park is a simple adjustment.
The RH wiper does appear to have the RHD bend, but there were common
replacement wipers a few years back where this was adjustable. Since 3B's
were only built in LHD, it's clearly just a wiper problem, at worst you'll
need a pair of new arms (under $15/each).
Having owned several TR3As in Indiana myself, I can say that it was tough to
even find a service place that didn't say "Is that an MG ?", let alone know
the correct way to adjust the wipers !
