The difference between the Moss ones and the prestige dashes is price, time and
quality.
-Cost- The prestige ones cost about 50% more (depending on what wood you
choose)...he makes each one by hand (so he can do LHD, RHD, etc),
-time- since the operation (ive never seen his shop, just talked to him on the
phone) seems very much to be "one california ex hippy in a woodshop" (and I
mean that as a good thing) it is very slow. He has no website. You just talk
to him on hte phone, then he mails you some sample photos, you talk some more,
then send him a check, and thn 3+ months later you get your dash. He does the
dashes in batches of car type (a bunch of TR4s, then a different LBC, etc). So
your timing depends on how long until your car batch comes up next.
-Quality- ive seen my dash in detail, and the moss and original ones at car
shows- the prestige one is lightyears nicer- fantastic quality wood,
breathtakingly finished (lots and lots of varnish), great graining, PERFECT
matching across the glovebox door, beautifully painted corners. The difference
between a "nice" piece (moss) and a "oh my god that is the most beautiful piece
of wood Ive ever seen" (prestige).
Overall, I love mine. Its fun to have exotic burlwood. Makes me feel like im
driving some supercar. that being said, you pay for what you get.
