Been there, done that with those bushings. I gave up finally! I ended up
having some made at a local machine shop to my specs. If you are interested

Sorry you had so much difficulty with yours but good news on having some
alternative ones made. They certainly could have been designed a bit
easier to install. On the other hand I have installed two sets so far and
if they are warmed up generously (boiling water) they become just pliable
enough to be forced into position with a little luck and a fairly large
screwdriver. Infact a couple of screwdrivers works best.
