The rear nut is definitely a PITA, but the breather tube normally
doesn't interfere with the pump.  The tube is a slip fit in the block,
it's normally held in position by a link that goes under the head of one
of the pan bolts.  My guess is that your tube has rotated around where
it goes into the block, and that if you rotate it back (after loosening
the link, if necessary), you can get the pump off.  The section of tube
between the top and where it goes into the block should be vertical.
