My (early) factory Spitfire manual gives a maximum variation of 7.09
grams (4 drams), so your 1.4 grams sounds well within specification.

I'm not sure, but don't the counterweights on the crank need to be
changed for more reciprocating mass ?

That sounds loose to me, should be a "light push fit" by the book. IMO
your small end bushings are worn & should be replaced.
