FWIW, I seem to recall Castrol-Girling "Crimson" brake fluid back when the cars
were new in the 1960s. There was also a "green" fluid (can't remember if it was
supposed to be a high-performance fluid or ????). Both were more or less
supplanted by the "Amber" and, later, the GT/LMA still available now.
I don't think I still have any cans of any of the old colors, but I suspect
most all of them were DOT3. And I don't recall seeing Crimson or Green in
nearly 30 years now, so you might have some really old brake fluid in your car
(if, indeed, it's Castrol-Girling fluid)! :-)
