restoring my 72 gt6 and into the wiring now...

1. the two red warning lights in middle of dash did not work. on
removing dash discovered no lights in sockets but found sockets behind
wires stuffed in dash. putting bulbs in sockets discovered one was
wired to the drivers door switch. (purple with orange wire). this is
not shown on haynes manual wiring diagram. dash panel was labeled brake
failure light. traced black / purple wire from brake system under hood
to dash. wire was cut because it had melted at one time. i tested the
brake system switch and it currently is zero ohms to ground (grounded).
is that what it is supposed to be ? and open to ground on failure ? or
is the brake pressure switch defective and that is what caused it to
melt (sometime in the past) ? i do not need the door switch going to
light on dash, how can i restore the brake failure light ? just wire it
up somehow ?

2. anti-run on control valve does not appear to be working. car runs
on. i believe it has to do with wiring. or could be that large vacuum
hose is not on it. just the small hose from carb. one wire on the anti
run on goes to pin6 brown/red on back of ignition switch (correct).
other wire goes to rear terminal on oil pressure sender (toward
firewall). i cannot make out any labeling on oil sender but there are
three terminals. front, top and rear. the oil sender if turned 180
degrees would make the middle terminal on the bottom rather than the top
as is now if that helps at all. the middle terminal of the oil sender
goes to idiot light on dash and works correctly. the front terminal on
oil sender goes to ground. the haynes manual says the run on valve
should be wired to I terminal of oil sender. is that the rear terminal
on oil sender ? or are the wires backward on oil sender (front and rear
terminals) ? i apologize that i cannot make out any labeling on oil
sender. i can only describe physical position.

3. i do not understand the haynes wiring diagram. it shows the oil
pressure sender wired closed from P to S terminals. which terminals are
P & S ? and is this shown closed. is this under oil pressure or no
pressure ? ignition on or off ? also the diagram shows the anti run
valve as open. is this with car on and running or off ? does it close
when the oil pressure drops ?

4. does anyone know how the brake failure warning light is supposed to
be wired ? or is my sender defective and should not be grounded ? it
would seem to me that it should be open with 12v on bulb and when the
failure occurs, that is when it grounds and turns the light on. can it
be repaired if i am correct or does it have to be replaced (ugh, brake
bleeding) ?

4. should i connect a (larger) hose from the anti run on valve to the
air canister ? or to the large hoses now on carbs / valve cover ? is
this why it is not working ? i hate putting the car in gear and letting
out the clutch to get the engine to stop turning when key is off. is
there a way to test the air canister and see if it is doing anything?

once again, thank you in advance for all the terrific feedback. i do
appreciate it. with all your help i am making great progress ! as
always the car can be seen at http://cs.uccs.edu/~lstein and click on
