Does anyone know how many cars would have been in the plant being assembled
or in the yard waiting for shipment at one time? How many might have been
produced in one day? Surely there are several listers who have cars that
came through the factory at virtually the same time.
I am afflicted with a photographic memory -- if I stand in line at the BMV
long enough and glance at my title a few times, I can remember the VIN. I
can, right now, tell you the VIN on every car I've ever owned, just from
memory. The idea of two cars in the plant at the same time having survived
and perhaps winding up next to each other at a show somewhere, 40 years
later, has sort of a cosmic coincidental appeal to me. (And I have a friend
who had two successive 1991 Jeep Cherokees with VINs that were sequential.)
I know all of this is essentially meaningless trivia, but still pretty cool,
at least to me. (By the way, I use this power for good, not for evil.)
