Spark Knock TR3

I have installed a Pertronix Ignitor on a rebuilt 1960 TR3A motor.  It is 
running well but spark knocks under acceleration in high gear.  Will advance or 
retarding affect?  Which way do I turn the distributor to advance or retard?
Any other ideas will be welcomed!
