Hi Wick,

On an American car, the IGN lamp is called the alt warning lamp.  Your alt may
have went on strike.  What does the voltmeter read?  If it's around 12 volts
with the engine at 1200 RPM, alternator is not putting out, if 14 volts or so,
alternator is probably working and warning light circuit is defective.
